Abbot Notker Wolf, O.S.B., Abbot Primate Emeritus

Abbot Primate Notker Wolf O.S.B., Ph.D., born 1940 in Bad Grönenbach in the Allgäu, entered the Archabbey of Saint Ottilien in 1961, studied philosophy at the Papal University of Sant’ Anselmo in Rome, theology and natural sciences at the LMU in Munich. In 1968 he was ordained priest and in 1971 called to Rome and appointed a lecturer at the Benedictine University of Sant’Anselmo. In 1977 he was elected Archabbot of Saint Ottilien and with that Abbot President of the worldwide Benedictine Congregation of St. Ottilien. In the year 2000 he was elected Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Confederation and in 2008 elected for a further four years. He is the author of several best-selling books. His hobbies are classical flute, electric guitar and languages.
